May I include my own sponsors and advertising in my livestream?

You can integrate your own sponsors and advertising partners directly into the livestream as in-stream advertising. This is done on site using the livestreaming software or the SETV Streamer app in the form of graphics, images or video files, which then become part of the livestream signal.

The following requirements apply: In-stream advertising must not exceed ten minutes per hour of transmission. Continuous advertising programmes are therefore not permitted. Advertising must be clearly recognizable as such and separated from editorial content by visual or audio means. References to your own products and services also constitute advertising, as does a sponsorship notice. The sponsor of a programme or programme-like video must be disclosed so viewers and users understand that a third party with its own interests is helping to finance it. A sponsorship notice must be reasonably brief and must not resemble a commercial in length or presentation. It may be shown at the beginning and end of the programme, before and after each advertising break within the programme, and in programme announcements for sponsored content.

Clear labeling is particularly important for identifying advertising. The German media authorities’ guidelines provide advice on appropriate labeling for online media. The content requirements for advertising and rules on prohibited advertising are summarized here: https://www.die-medienanstalten.de/themen/werbeaufsicht
